Day4
Cocoa to Ormond
"One hell of a long push
this morning!" the Boat Guy said. The waves
were about two to three feet at low tide, so the teams couldn't put the
boards and the rudders down
until the pushers could get them far enough out. Semp Toshiba
looked really good in the surf( must be all that wave practice at Cape
Horn.) After the boats got through the surf the Air Force and Cape
Canaveral Officers have said the sailors must maintain a one mile distance
from
shore to insure the saftey of the boats, captains, and crews. Anyone inside
that mile may be disqualified. They gave us three
marks to navigate safely around the cape, and it took the boats out a
lot further than last year. No one had a run in with the
local gun boats luckily. After they got around the Cape they sailed past
Daytona
to Ormond Beach where the local spaghetti dinner is waiting for us. First
Team Castrol landed then Tybee about a minute later. In 3rd came Team
Semp Toshiba. It was a great finish and really exciting to watch.
WE HAVE DRIVEN HARD 1ST PLACE
THIS LEG.
